A strange, exotic and slightly dangerous place

Nicely told. Love the salute to Travolta.
What do they sell at a Mexican bakery?
Seriously?
Hee hee, I guess it's not just pan dulces ^_~ But is it really worth dying for?
Vesper, your priorities are so, so warped. Yes...it's worth dying for. And I haven't even started the conversation yet about how good it is when paired with Mexican hot chocolate. Man oh man. Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. And add some Kahlua? Ahhhhhhhhhhhh...life is good.

"Pan dulce" is actually a generic term for all sorts of sweet breads and pasteries. Literally translated, it's "sweet bread." The link I gave was a little misleading, but I didn't feel like searching for more. So, although I mock you (we mock because we love), you're question was actually fair. I'm hungry.

That was funny, embarking on an extremely dangerous, life-threatening journey for... bread :p
I loved the photos you took of your life-or-death journay to the panera. There used to be a local Mexican bakery right next to my high school, and on occasion, I'd walk over there on my lunch hour and get some goodies. Yum, I can see why you risked your life for such goodness. Also, I love your safe haven, it's gorgeous!
Wuss. I go to the Mission at 1 in the morning on a Friday... straight to my favorite taqueria where my old boss got caught in gang crossfire.
There is only one place in town to get authentic mexican and people walk to it...you were in a savage land!!
As a former resident of San Francisco, back when the City was half the danger and insanely overpriced real estate that it is now, I applaud your journey. You are a braver man than I who, as a female, would be unlikely to venture forth without a SWAT escort.
love ur post:)
